Our Bell Housing System-A Safe and Economical Alternative to Aluminum and Titanium
We wanted to do something better so we talked to racers who drive dragsters, funny cars, nostalgia cars, truck and tractor pullers, asking what improvements they would like in a bellhousing. We wanted to know what racers disliked about aluminum and titanium bellhousings, so we spent time at the track, listened, and set out to develop an alternative to titanium bellhousing and aluminum bellhousing design.
Protection from clutch assembly explosion and day-to-day torsional flex strength was critical, but racers also sought a readily available, affordable bellhousing. Racers asked for a bellhousing with the strength of titanium, without the expensive price tag. They also sought weight and cost savings found in an aluminum bellhousing without concerns over cracking or the ability to get the bellhousing re-certified. Finally, racers told us they needed an off-the-shelf, readily available bell housing-not one that takes 6 months to manufacture. Our answer was to bond stainless steel to aluminum, creating a light-weight, hybrid bellhousing design.
Advantages of Bonded Stainless Steel Bellhousing Design
By bonding stainless steel to aluminum, Probell Racing can offer a lighter, safer, cost effective alternative to both aluminum and titanium bellhousings.
• Hybrid, bonded stainless steel bellhousing design is comparable weight to a titanium bellhousing
• Stainless steel bonded to aluminum yields a safe alternative to aluminum bellhousings that are prone to cracking
• Unlike expensive, custom order titanium bellhousings, our light-weight hybrid bellhousing is a stock item, ready for immediate shipment
• Bonded stainless steel bellhousings typically cost $1,000.00 less than titanium bellhousings
The Cost of Bellhousing Failure
Belllhousing failure is both a safety and pocket-book issue for racers. Bellhousing failure means down-time at the track, which means lost racing team revenue. Repeated bellhousing failure means expensive mid-season replacements. More importantly, one can never put an acceptable price tag on personal safety. The costs of bellhousing failure are too important to ignore. Our bonded stainless steel bellhousing design gives you the best of both worlds--world class performance at a cost effective price.
Features and Benefits of Bonded Stainless Steel Bellhousing Design
Our light-weight, bonded stainless steel bellhousings have the smallest formed starter pocket in the industry so they fit in the narrowest chassis available. They are completely CNC machined for accuracy to ensure a perfect fit to your engine and transmission. Our bell housings also have the largest inspection window allowed by SFI specifications and cross shaft supports to eliminate cross shaft deflection. We are also the only manufacturer with a solid formed liner in our 6.2 & 6.3 bellhousings.
Our bonded stainless steel bellhousing includes everything you need to comply with class rules requiring Blow Back Brackets and Clutch / Bellhousing exhaust filters. We’ve included these features, plus cross shaft supports that eliminate cross shaft deflection and improve clutch release and reaction times. For one great price, you get everything you need. All 6.2 SFI certified bellhousings come complete with blow-back brackets and clutch dust filter tube. These are also available for our 6.3 certified bellhousings.
